INTERIM ADULT APPLICATION GUIDELINES: Updated 05/07/03

(1) APPLICANTS SHOULD NOTE: Adult Registrations are not
automatic there are four possible outcomes:
(
a) Accepted outright.
(
b) Restricted can advance to full registration with full breeding rights pending a favourable outcome of their progeny's assessment & 10 month Vet Check.
(
c) Restricted Permanently, these animals must be spayed or neutered to become registered with this Club.
(
d) Refused Outright. OWNERS APPLYING FOR ADULT REGISTRATION FOR THEIR JACK RUSSELL TERRIER SHOULD BE ABLE TO SUPPLY A THREE GENERATION PEDIGREE ON BOTH SIDES (This pedigree must have been issued by a properly constituted Association)

(2) JRTs applying for Adult Registration should pass or supply the following criteria, any animal the Committee feels does not pass this criteria may be either Restricted Pending a Test Mating, Refused Outright or Restricted Permanently:
(
a) Must have a full three-generation pedigree on both sides, (issued by a properly constituted association.
(
b) Must not be too closely bred, (see unacceptable breeding practices).
(
c) Must not display faults that should be particularly penalised as stated in this Club's Breed Standard.
(
d) Must pass a Vet Check at a minimum age of 10 months.
*The JRT named on the Adult Application must be 10 months of age or older* At the time of their assessment all dogs/bitches must be supported by as much information as possible, this information must include a fully completed Vet Check Form, as provided with the Application of Adult Registration papers.

(3) Jack Russell Terriers either imported or domestic, whose Adult Application is not initially Restricted, Registration Pending Test Mating, Refused Outright or Permanently Restricted, will be accepted onto this Club's register.

(4) Prospective breeding bitches placed on Restricted Registration Pending Test Mating must produce a minimum of four pups to a proven sire or sires (i.e. registered sires who have fathered more that one litter) and these offspring must pass a Vet Check at 10 months of age. NB: If the bitch produces more than 4 pups in the litter/s all pups produced must pass the Vet Check and be assessed at 10 months of age.
(
a) Prospective stud dogs placed on Restricted Registration Pending Test Mating must only be used twice or sire a minimum of four pups which ever occurs first within a 6 month period, and must not be used again until ALL the offspring from this mating/s have passed the Vet Check and been assessed at 10 months of age.
NB: This mating/s must be to a proven bitch or bitches (i.e. registered bitches who have whelped more than one litter).
(
b) No animal should be bred from until after it has had, and passed its 10-month Vet Check.
(
c) Should a Sire or Dam become incapable of producing the minimum four pups required for their Assessment due to accident or death or other reasons acceptable to the National Committee i.e. if only 2-3 pups have been produced then those 2-3 pups will have to come up as adult approvals in their own right.

(5) Animals that do not pass the required ten month Vet Check will be permanently restricted; they will have no breeding rights and must, in the interest of protecting the soundness of the breed, be spayed or neutered. Jack Russell Terriers who are spayed or neutered will have all the rights pertaining to their status i.e. they can compete in all Fun and Field Day Events and in Show classes that are not restricted to breeding stock. The Club will require written veterinary proof that the animal is spayed or neutered.

(6) Jack Russell Terriers who are spayed or neutered at the time of the lodgement of their application if accepted onto this Club's register will be permanently restricted by virtue of their circumstances and will have all the rights pertaining to their status.

NB: Applicants may "Appeal the Sub-Committee's decision by lodging an appeal to the full National Committee. Applicants may lodge their appeal by contacting the National Secretary in writing. A 75% vote of the full National Committee must be achieved.
